Tom Stade
Canadian émigré Tom Stade arrived in the UK in 2001 and instantly made a splash with his magnetic stage presence and first-class storytelling. Three decades into his career, he’s one of the most distinctive stand-ups around and a leading touring act with a legion of loyal fans.

A regular at the Edinburgh Fringe, Tom has toured the UK with a brand-new show every year since 2011, playing to packed houses and rave reviews. His latest show, Tom Stade Rules, hits the road from September 2026.
His irrepressible charm translated effortlessly to TV, and he’s been invited onto every major stand-up show in the country. He has performed twice on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo, on The John Bishop Show, and to his largest live audience to date on Channel 4’s Comedy Gala at London’s O2 Arena.
Extremely appealing. Stade is a kind of debauched truth-teller… a wisdom that is beyond mere ordinary mortals… plenty to savour.
He has also appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Lee Mack’s All Star Cast (both BBC One), Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live (BBC Three), The Boyle Variety Performance and, twice, Stand Up for the Week (Channel 4). He was given an extended set on Dave’s One Night Stand, guested on BBC Two’s Mock the Week, and has performed on Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up and The Comedy Store and ITV2’s Comedy Cuts.
Tom co-wrote and co-starred in Frankie Boyle’s infamous Channel 4 series Tramadol Nights. He played a spoof chat-show host in Come Fringe Yourself with Tom Stade, recorded at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe, which gathered a cult online following, then co-wrote and starred alongside Daniel Sloss in M.U.F.F., an independently funded online series set in an anarchic TV production company.
Back in his native Canada, Tom appeared in the acclaimed sitcom The Newsroom and the award-winning feature film My Own Private Oshawa, and starred in his own hour-long special for CBC/Comedy Central, Stade and Confused.
He remains in demand internationally, with festival invitations from New York, Aspen, Montreal, Toronto, Amsterdam, Kilkenny, Adelaide, Melbourne and New Zealand. He has also regularly entertained British troops overseas, from the freezing Falklands to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Tom Stade Live was released on DVD in 2013. Since then he has recorded I Swear, free to watch on this site, and I Swear To, released via Next Up Comedy. His latest full special, filmed in Kendal, is available now on Vimeo On Demand.
Thirty years on the comedy frontline, this Canadian legend remains as engaging, innovative and hilarious as ever.
